"Emmanuel:  God With Us"
Knowing What You Believe - Part 11
Matthew Chapter 1

  1. Jesus was focused intently on His mission; "I must be about my Father's business."

(see Hebrews 2:10,14)

A.  This is why Jesus became flesh:  to be a human sacrifice for us.

B.  If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus:

"If you have seen me, you have seen the Father."

"We beheld His glory..."

  1. Jesus came so that He could identify with us, and understand our struggles and temptations.

(see Hebrews 4:14-16)

"hold firmly"

"We have One who has been tempted in every way."

  1. Jesus not only knows what we are going through, but He has also experienced it.

Many see the purpose of life as pleasure. But it's obvious that we live in a fallen world with many problems, so without a God who loves us, life would have no meaning or purpose.

  1. God is present with us.

A.  Eternally

"I will be with you, even to the end of the age."

B.  Intimately

(see Psalm 139:1-10)

"You are familiar with all of my ways."

"[everywhere] your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."

(see Psalm 46:1)

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble."

C.  God meets our needs.

(see Proverbs 3:5-6)

Acknowledge Him in all situations. Lean on Him. Trust Him even when life is hard. God's grace is enough.

"My grace is sufficient for you and my power is made perfect in weakness."

Jesus took our punishment. He is preparing a place for us. He is always with us.
