Sara GravesGRAVES

How to reach Sara:

Sara and her late husband Marvin joined Action International Ministries in 1981, after having served in the Philippines for 26 years with New Tribes Mission.

Marvin and Filipino co-worker, Florentino, opened work in an unreached headhunting tribe, the “Ilongot”, in 1954. Sara joined Marvin in January 1956, and they were married in Manila. Florentino and other New Tribes missionaries continued the work of translating the Bible and church planting while the Graves were asked to run the mission guest home and do the business & government work until 1980.

In 2004, Marvin and Sara traveled to the Philippines to visit the area where the Gospel was first presented many years earlier. Praise God for the 16 Ilongot churches that gathered to give God praise during a celebration of the 50 years since the entrance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to that tribe!
On July 31, 2011, ACC honored the Graves for 60 years of faithful missions and ministry work and wished Marvin a happy 80th birthday!

"The light that shines farthest, shines brightest at home."

I have been reminded of this quote recently as I witness the excitement and enthusiasm of Alderwood Community Church's plan for the expanded "footprint" in the Lynnwood area. Praise God for the passionate hearts of our leadership and members to reach out to the surrounding neighborhoods! Praise God for the opportunity to extend His love and share the Good News of Jesus Christ locally! Praise God for the" fire" that is being ignited! And from this, let's pray "flames" will reach out globally to the uttermost parts of our world!

Oh how we Praise our LORD for the latest missionaries Alderwood has sent out to Greece...for Daniel & Sarah Deurbrouck! Let's keep them in our prayers! And, let's believe that out of our midst, here at ACC, God will raise up and thrust forth passionate "flames," young and old alike, to follow in their steps to fulfill Jesus' great commission to His GO!

In a recent article by Doug Nichols, he asked: "Are missionaries needed these days?

“Statistics say there are at least two billion people in the world with no near neighbor Christian to tell them of Christ (and salvation only through Him). So, if your church sent a missionary to serve with 10,000 of these unreached people (street children, prisoners, etc) there would be a need for 200,000 additional missionaries needed now!

“So dear friend, will you rise to the need and trust God to send one or two missionaries from your church this year?"

What a great challenge for us at Alderwood Community Church! May ACC's "fire" blaze so "white-hot" for Christ here, that it may reach to the ends of the earth!

I THANK you, dear friends, for your support, care, love and prayers. I am grateful God is allowing me to continue on Wednesdays as financial assistant at our ACTION office. Grateful, too, for opportunities to help represent Him...mid-March at BIOLA University, mid-April overseeing meals for our New Missionary Orientation, and the first part of May I will be hosting a furloughing family from the Philippines!
