attended in 1988 as a college student and returned in 2002
Growing up:
I was born in India. My parents were missionaries there. Shortly after my birth we returned to the states and lived in South Dakota, Washington, and Minnesota. My father worked in the fields of education and ministry. My mother stayed home and worked at being the best mom ever. In the mid 70's we returned to Washington and I have lived here ever since. As a child, I spent many hours singing, performing and teaching in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. It was during this time that I began to develop a love for storytelling, teaching and music.
Family:
My wonderful husband Mike and I have been married since 1990. We have four great children - Emily, born in 1998; Rachel, born in 2000; and our twins Michael and Sarah, born in 2002. My family and I enjoy playing sports, hiking, camping and reading books together.
Education:
I graduated from Trinity Western University in 1989 with a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. Later I received a Master's Degree from Lesley University in 1994 in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Creative Arts and Learning.
Past employment:
I worked for the Bethel School District from 1989-2000 as an elementary teacher. I stayed home for a few years to nurture and care for my little ones. I returned to teaching in 2006 to work for the Edmonds School District as a half-day kindergarten teacher at Maplewood Elementary School K-8 Cooperative.
Activities/Hobbies:
I love to exercise, sew, paint, draw, garden, sing, play piano, read and spend time with my family.
Why ACC:
My husband and I met at Alderwood in the college group. When we moved back to the area it was natural for us to attend our "home" church. I have always found Alderwood to be a strong Bible teaching church that has an excellent focus on missions and outreach. It provides a warm community and foundation for our family. God has called me to work with children and minister to families. I am proud to serve Him in Children's Ministry at Alderwood.
Great times at ACC:
I have enjoyed working in the children's programs for the last 10 years and before. Watching the children's faces light up with understanding while telling a story is always a joy. Serving the Lord during Vacation Bible Study and seeing God at work is always a delight. Getting to know and work side by side the staff and volunteers of ACC has enriched my life in numerous ways. The Bible studies I have attended have been life changing!
Favorite Music:
Rich Mullins, Casting Crowns, Francesca Battistelli and Michael W Smith are definitely favorites. I also appreciate classical and the best old hymns.
Bookshelf: (last three books read)
Don't Waste Your Life John Piper Radical David Platt George Muller: Man of Faith and Miracles Basil Miller
Remember me for:
My desire to love and serve God with all my heart, soul and mind. My desire to help children come to do the same.
